The Norwegian-American Genealogy Association (N-AGA) was formed by members of the Minnesota Genealogical Society (MGS). Al Dahlquist gathered together a group of Scandinavian MGS members who were interested in the five Nordic countries. This group was called the Scandinavian American Genealogy Society (SAGS) and was a branch of the Minnesota Genealogical Society. Subgroups of SAGS include Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian, and Swedish Genealogy Groups. SAGS met for several years together and separately. Gradually, each group had a meeting place, access to a newsletter, and separate meetings. As a result, SAGS was dissolved, and each group established its own relationship with the Minnesota Genealogy Society.
