One was "a good Norwegian", the second emigrated to America. Both those with and shaped the history of Norway. This is the story of man who went to America. On 7 May 1939 in the city of Fort Dodge in the Midwest is a lofty 90-year-old welcomes 53 members of the Norwegian Students Choir. The singers have veered from the official program they have with Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Märtha to greet him. In a short time, without any of the others around him noticing it, closing the old man eyes and think back in time: June 19, 1905 when he escorted a previous generation of Norwegian students singers into the White House and President Roosevelt. The Norwegian singers were sending men to America while Norway's fate was at stake. March 18, 1881 when he had Bjørnson to come to Fort Dodge to discuss the pietistic Norwegian churches in America opposite and to gather support for Johan Sverdrup was in the process of establishing the Liberal Party in Norway. ... And even further back, to 1850 to 1860 years when the older brothers kept his "elections" at home on the big farm Eastern Five Kvam, one of the most radical settlements in "The Red Amt" Nord-Trøndelag. Although he liked better when they walked down the woods and carved willow whistles of all sizes and keys and where alder trees rustled so nice with their leaves that he thought it sounded like harp. Or when they had real orchestra, his parents and his sister sang, big brothers played the violin and cello while he accompanied on the piano. The story starts at the Five-farm where trønder loan lies with the broad side facing the Snåsavatnet.
