Casper Oimoen papers, 1973-1979
Memorabilia and a biographical sketch of an immigrant from Raufoss, Toten, who became a famous American skier. He was captain of the U. S. Olympic Team in 1936 and was inducted into the Skiing Hall of Fame in 1963. He was later recipient of the Theodore Roosevelt Roughrider Award, the highest honor the State of North Dakota can bestow on a current or former citizen of the state. His daughter, Sonja Oimoen Afset, traveled with her parents to Norway in 1979. Her diary of the trip is included. -
Ole Amundson Buslett papers, 1873-1925
Letters, notes, poems, manuscripts, reports, speeches, reviews, clippings, and biographical miscellany of a Norwegian-born author, poet, journalist, legislator, and merchant in Northland, Wisconsin. The letters received by Buslett deal with local church problems, bilingualism in the church, criticism of current Norwegian-American literature, materialism among Norwegian Americans, the Wisconsin exhibit at Norway's Eidsvoll Centennial in 1914, a State Park in Door County, Wisconsin.
The letters by Buslett are to his wife and Waldemar Ager. Among the papers are a review of O. E. Rølvaag's "Paa Glemte Veie," a copy of Wergeland's "Talsmand" (Stevens Point, 1886), a roster of small towns in the United States with Scandinavian names arranged by states, articles on woman suffrage and socialism, reports from the Wisconsin Good Roads Committee of 1909, and a bibliography of Buslett's works. The collection contains letters from significant Norwegian-American authors and journalists of the day, among them R. B. Anderson, B. Anundsen, Julius Baumann, John Benson, Sigurd Folkestad, O. S. Hervin, H. R. Holand, P. P. Iverslie, Simon Johnson, Jon Norstog, Torkel Oftelie, O. E. Rølvaag, Peer Strømme, and Johs. B. Wist. "Ole Amundsen Buslett: Norwegian-American Author" is a 1978 University of Oslo thesis (cand. filol.) by Liv Smith, 1978.

John Y. Olesen pamphlet, 1952
History of Norway and the Norsemen, a 47-page booklet published by Olesen, a civil engineer.
"History of Norway and the Norsemen," published at Storm Lake, Iowa. Mr. Olesen, states in the preface that it was his purpose "…to write a short and inexpensive history of Norway…and to show some events under each king, in addition to the information about the Ancient Norsemen that appeared in the Leif Erikson booklet." -

Gunnar Olsborg papers, 1981-1982
Born in Seattle to Norwegian parents, Olsborg began working on ships when 16, working his way up to mate and pilot. He retired in 1982 after 36 years and 9 months of Puget Sound piloting "plus 20 years on the ocean in all categories of the deck department." In his letter acknowledging the gift of the memoirs, Odd S. Lovoll says the materials have a "value as an historical documentation of a particular and exciting career."
The principal memoir, "A summary of a twenty year career at sea through World War II.," (51 p. Typescript) was finished May 1, 1981. A brief summary (6 p.) is dated May 15, 1982. Included several clippings connected with the retirement from Seattle, Tacoma and Stavanger newspapers. (The Tacoma article (May 23, 1982) also features Philip Luther, who was retiring after 37 years of piloting ships on Puget Sound); articles. -
Emily Veblin Olsen papers, 1906-1941
Papers of the wife of a Lutheran clergyman and a sister of Thorstein and Andrew A. Veblen: a history of St. Ansgar congregation; sermons by her father-in-law, Johan Olsen; a tribute to Claus L. Clausen by her husband, Sigurd Olsen; a letter by Ole Nilsen; memoirs and biographies of her husband and her father-in-law by Mrs. Olsen; and a photograph album. Emily was a student at Carleton College.

Copies of biographical data, concerning an emigrant from Nordre Fron, Gudbrandsdalen, who came to Brooklyn in 1882. He was the first president of "Nordmaendenes Sangforening" in Brooklyn. -

Karl Olsen writings, 1992
Two volumes of "Selected Writings of Karl Olsen," edited by Stephen Olsen. Karl Olsen, born in Valley City, North Dakota, briefly attended St. Olaf College. Before the age of twenty, he tramped through Japan, Manchuria, Mexico, the Soviet Union, and Europe. Olsen served as an intelligence officer in the Pacific during World War II, and later assigned to one of the first detachments of the U.S. forces to enter Berlin in 1945. After the war he co-founded and served the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Lute Olsen article, 2002 September 22
"Special commemorative section" of the Arizona Daily Star honoring his election to the Basketball Hall of Fame, Springfield, Massachusetts. Born September 22, 1934 on a farm outside Hatton, N.D., Olson grew up in Mayville and Grand Forks, N.D., and graduated from Augsburg College (Minneapolis) in 1956. He served as coach and teacher in Mahnomen and Two Harbors, Minn,; Boulder, CO.; Anaheim, CA. In 1974 he was named head basketball coach at the University of Iowa; in 1983 head basketball coach at the University of Arizona.
