During WWII she taught Norwegian to soldiers in the Army Specialized Training Program at the University of Minnesota. There she met her future husband, Torliff Tweet, and they were married after he returned from the war. They settled in Roseau, Minnesota, where she and her husband ran the local Ben Franklin Store. She supported many Norwegian related institutions such as Sons of Norway, Vesterheim museum and the Norwegian American Historical Association. She is the daughter of Ole E. Rølvaag and Jennie Berdahl Rølvaag. Peder Pedersen's letter to Ella Rølvaag. Ella Valborg Rølvaag Tweet (1910 December 8-2003 July 12) graduated from St. Olaf College in 1932 and then studied at the University of Oslo. Jennie was born in a sod hut before South Dakota received statehood. She attended Augustana Academy in Canton, S.D. and was a county school teacher. Jennie Berdahl married Ole Rølvaag in 1908 and lived in Northfield, MN. Together they had four children: Olaf Arnljot (1909-1915) Ella Valborg Tweet (1910-2003) Karl Fritjof (1913-1990) Paul Gunnar (1915-1920). Funding to digitize the O.E. Letter to Karl Rølvaag. Karl Fritjof Rølvaag (1913 July 18–1990 December 20) recieved his BA from St. Olaf College and MA from the University of Minnesota in 1946. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of captain, and earning a Silver Star and Purple Heart for his service. After the war, he was an American Scandinavian Foundation Scholar at the University of Oslo where he received an law degree. Karl Rølvaag served as the 31st Governor of Minnesota from 1963 to 1967, as a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party. After his tenure, he was appointed Ambassador to Iceland (1967-1969) by President Lyndon Johnson and was elected to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. He was the son of Ole E. Rølvaag and Jennie Berdahl Rølvaag. Rølvaag Papers was provided to the Norwegian American Historical Association through the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, a component of the Minnesota Clean Water, Land and Legacy constitutional amendment, ratified by Minnesota voters in 2008. During WWII she taught Norwegian to soldiers in the Army Specialized Training Program at the University of Minnesota. There she met her future husband, Torliff Tweet, and they were married after he returned from the war. They settled in Roseau, Minnesota, where she and her husband ran the local Ben Franklin Store. She supported many Norwegian related institutions such as Sons of Norway, Vesterheim museum and the Norwegian American Historical Association. She is the daughter of Ole E. Rølvaag and Jennie Berdahl Rølvaag. Aslaug Andreasdatter's letter to Ella Rølvaag. Ella Valborg Rølvaag Tweet (1910 December 8-2003 July 12) graduated from St. Olaf College in 1932 and then studied at the University of Oslo. She subsequently earned an MA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She taught Norwegian and other subjects at Luther College, St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota. Postcard from Ole Rølvaag to Karl Rølvaag. Karl Fritjof Rølvaag (1913 July 18–1990 December 20) recieved his BA from St. Olaf College and MA from the University of Minnesota in 1946. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of captain, and earning a Silver Star and Purple Heart for his service. After the war, he was an American Scandinavian Foundation Scholar at the University of Oslo where he received an law degree. Karl Rølvaag served as the 31st Governor of Minnesota from 1963 to 1967, as a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party. After his tenure, he was appointed Ambassador to Iceland (1967-1969) by President Lyndon Johnson and was elected to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. He was the son of Ole E. Rølvaag and Jennie Berdahl Rølvaag. Harald Beck was born November 22, 1882 in Nesna (Nordland County) to Jacob Johannes Bech Christoffersen (1856-1922) and Line Mathilde Zahl (1860-1938). He immigrated to the United States in 1894 November and died in 1926. Marie Beck was born Maria Henriette Berg on October 19, 1881 in Nesna (Nordland County) to Gunder Berg (1841-1925) and Kaia Olea Benjaminsdatter (1850-1937). Gundar (Gunnar) was the older brother to Ole Rølvaag's father, Peder Benjamin Jacobsen. She immigrated to the United States in 1916 and later died in 1926.
