- Caption on the back reads: "Per Jorgensen Vestvold, Rolvaag's brother-in-law, a real hiking type, said he has spent his 20th year at Lofoten fishing, most of the time in open sailboats. Per Rolvaag to the right, Rolvaags brother, very much like him too. Taken at Lomeid, on the island Dønna, Per Jorgensen's home."
- Funding to digitize the O.E. Rølvaag Papers was provided to the Norwegian-American Historical Association through the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, a component of the Minnesota Clean Water, Land and Legacy constitutional amendment, ratified by Minnesota voters in 2008.
