- Translation:
Oh you, my dearest girl!
It is so purely, blasphemously ugly how I long for you, you my dearest. How is it going with you? Did not go to bed before this morning at 2 o’clock, and now before 8 I have been on my feet. Today we are going to travel to Lake Minnetonka on a picnic. Talked many times during the meal yesterday evening, I almost think I had too much fun. They were the ones who hurt me. Johansen has been enlightened at church, I understand, that I am to speak twice on Sunday, both the fore- and the afternoon. I have refused to do it in the afternoon, but I have to anyway, so don’t wait on me before the last train on Sunday night. My dear housewife, now you must not go and be unhappy! Be lively and cheer yourself up, “your husband” will soon come back to you, and then we will sit down and only love one another for a whole night.
