Translation:
Dear Jennie! The ladies are just now finishing up, and then I will write some words so that you get them this evening, so you know how we are doing.
They are traveling now, and Fritjof and I will join them to Marcell and get food for next week; it looks like it will rain, but if it rains before we start from Marcell, we will go in to Oakland’s.
It has been a restless week, but rather fun. I do not know how it will go now when Fritjof and I manage ourselves.
We were going to send some fish and were out trying yesterday afternoon, but had bad luck with us; therefore you won’t get anything. You must forgive our bad luck.
Have not gotten a word from you since we arrived, but today is the mail, I assume.
Breakfast is now finished, and therefore I will stop. Hope that next Saturday evening you are in my two arms!
Your boy,
