Amy Boxrud

Executive Director

Amy is responsible for the daily operations of the association, in addition to leading the organization’s development, communications, and membership efforts. Prior to her work with NAHA, she gained 25 years of experience working in the fields of publishing, communications, and nonprofit management. Amy is a graduate of St. Olaf College, where she studied English and Norwegian. She has completed a certificate program in nonprofit fundraising at the Opus College of Business, University of St. Thomas, and she is currently pursuing a masters in public history through the University of Nebraska-Kearney. In her free time, she enjoys gardening and Nordic folk fiddling.

Karen Annexstad Humphrey

Senior Advancement Officer (contracted)

Karen believes it is a privilege to hear people’s stories and to help them realize projects and programs that are meaningful to them. Prior to her role with NAHA, Karen served as a major gifts officer for the Minnesota Historical Society and vice president of advancement for Bethany College. In her work as a volunteer, she has chaired the Board of Directors for both NAHA and the Minnesota Historical Society, and she currently serves as board secretary for the National Lutheran Choir. Karen is a graduate of the University of Minnesota.

Karen Annexstad Humphrey

Anna M. Peterson

Editor

In addition to serving as editor for NAHA, Anna is associate professor of history at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She earned a B.A. in Scandinavian Studies at Concordia College, Moorhead, a M.A. in history from the University of North Dakota, and a Ph.D. in history from Ohio State University. An active scholar of Norwegian and Norwegian-American history, Anna published a book on the historical development of Norwegian maternity leave in 2018. She is currently researching the Norwegian-American-run Bethany Indian Mission outside Wittenberg, Wisconsin. Read more about Anna on the Luther College website.

Kristina Warner

Archivist

As archivist, Kristina leads the association’s preservation, digitization, and cataloging efforts. She earned both her B.F.A. and her Masters in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In her training, she focused on archives and records management, digital preservation, and digital asset management. Prior to joining the NAHA staff, she worked in the University of Wisconsin archives, the archives of the Wisconsin Historical Society, and the library of the U.S. Geological Survey.

Jenny Wright

Member-Donor Coordinator

Jenny has recently moved back to her home state of Minnesota from Austin, Texas. With her Norwegian heritage, she is looking forward to furthering the mission of NAHA. She earned a B. S. in Business-Finance from the University of Minnesota as well as the CPA certification. She enjoys spending time with her young adult kids and playing piano. She is looking forward to rediscovering winter sports like Nordic skiing.

Erin Wiebe

Project Digitization Archivist

Erin processes and digitizes collections for our three-year project, “Norwegian-Americans Fighting for Two Homelands,” funded through the National Endowment for the Humanities. Erin earned a B.A. from St. Olaf College, where she studied art and medieval history. She has an M.S. in Library and Information Science with a focus in Archives Management, and an M.A. in History, both from Simmons University. In her past work, she has contributed to digital humanities initiatives, digitization of special collections, and women’s history projects.
