Ole Anderson Mellby papers, 1972-1944
Papers of a Norwegian-born Lutheran clergyman (pastor at New Richland, MN, 1872-1914): 1876-77 correspondence, receipts for money given to St. Olaf's School, signed by B.J. Muus; a biography of Mrs. Mellby by Carl A. Mellby, a son; the letters are by H. A. Preus (Sept. 29, 1872), U. V. Koren (July 31, 1903), Thina M Bjorn to Clara Schmidt (March 20, 1898), later Mrs. Carl A. Mellby.

Ole Andreson (Anderson) correspondence, 1864-1887
Letters to his wife at Wiota, LaFayette County, Wisconsin, from a Norwegian-born farmer who enlisted February 2, 1864, with Company H of the Third Wisconsin Regiment of Infantry and was killed May 25, 1864, at Dallas, Georgia. Andreson gives instructions to his wife regarding farm operations, purchase of land, and collection of his pay. He describes the health and living conditions of his company, the slaves he meets, destruction of property, and the battle engagement north of Atlanta. Two letters from Rice Lake, Wisconsin, are descriptive of logging days.

A genealogy and family history of the descendants of Ole Anfinnsen and Anne Knutsdatter Vik Skrøviken of Vestre Slidre, Valdres, Norway who emigrated from Norway to the U.S. and Canada. -
Ole Bendickson (Rudie) papers, 1881, 1978
Translation of a poetic memoir (4 typescript pages) written in 1881 by an emigrant from Slidre, Valdres, who came to Winneshiek County, Iowa, in 1857 and later moved west. The memoir is supplemented by an account of his later years written by a granddaughter. Ole and a brother enlisted in Co. D., 138th Iowa Infantry, sworn in August 20, 1862. The brother was killed June 16, 1863. Civil War. Ole moved to Winnebago Co., Iowa 1866 and died while living with a daughter near Lemmon, South Dakota.
Includes poetic memoir "Memory Song" (February 5, 1881. Translated by Mrs. Lila Evenhus; "Ole Bendickson's Later Life" (1 page typescript), written by Mrs. Lila Evenhus (1978). Gehr; "Ole Bull's Colony of Oleana: A Political Perspective," by Gary Larson; "Ole Bull's Activities in the U. S., 1843-1880," a New York University thesis by Inez Bull.
An Ole Bull Museum is located at Carter Camp, Potter County, Pennsylvania.

The Norse-American Adventure. Copy of a 419 page typescript compiled by the author who described himself as a traveler and lecturer. His stated purpose is " to bring to the front the accomplishments of our leading personalities in the many and various fields of endeavors." A two page index at the beginning notes the fields he has covered. The information includes many well-known as well as lesser-known personages, but is rather general. -

Two notebooks compiled by Christopher of notable Norwegians who lived in the United States and brief biographies/contributions they made to American life, are also in the file. Also includes a ledger book with clippings about various newspaper articles, both American and Norwegian, starting approximately in 1916 - 1920. -

Ole C. Waloe papers, 1898-1932
Letters, certificates, and medals of a Norwegian-born army colonel Waloe immigrated to Wisconsin ca. 1891, served in the United States Army in Cuba and the Philippines (1896-1924). Appointed colonel and assistant chief of constabulary in 1917, and operated a cattle ranch in the Philippine Islands until 1931, when he retired to Los Angeles.
