Town of York (Green County, Wisconsin) School records, 1891-1939
Papers of School District No. 3 in Town of York, consisting of petitions, warranty deed papers (1918), district survey (1919), teacher's contract (1919), teachers' reports (1898-1916), school census reports and annual reports (1912 - 1939), and financial records. Also includes: papers from teachers' retirement fund, photo of the school and students (1895), school insurance papers (1916). Ninety-eight per cent of the residents of the district were of Norwegian background. -

Papers of a daughter of Pastor N.E. Bøe, consisting of correspondence, articles, pamphlets, and clippings. Includes:
- Biography of N.E. Bøe, "Days That Are Gone: The Story of Father's Life," by A. Sophie Bøe (4 copies/1 photocopied, in file). Nils E Bøe, born in 1846 at Valestrand, Norway, emigrated from Norway in 1851 to Koshkonong, Dane County, Wisconsin. Biography touches upon many topics, including: farm work, Forth of July (Independence Day celebrations), swimming hole, ice skating, Christmas, education/school days, passenger pigeons, religion, Albion Academy, Civil War (enlisted as Nils Anderson in the 40th Wis. Reg., Co. C), Luther College, preparation for the ministry at Augustana Seminary (1866-1871), two years in Eureka, Kansas (1871-1873), prairie life (fires, prairie dogs, buffaloes, and flowers), six years in Calumet, Michigan (1873-1879), saloon element, Finnish sect, Laestadians, grasshoppers near Willmar, Minnesota (p. 65), Rev. Ralph Enger papers, 1947-1949
Papers of the founder and editor of "The Pacific Coast Scandinavian", consisting of correspondence and a history of the Norwegian Club of San Francisco, 1898 - 1946. The history (1947, 88 p. + 17 plates) deals largely with the social life of the Club, including the entertainment of such guests as Roald Amundsen, whose ship, Gjøa, the Club bought and gave to the city. A sketch of Andrew Furuseth; a list of officers, 1906 - 1946; an account of the voyage of the ship Gjøa; and the consitution and by-laws are also includes. Photographs of founder members; past presidents; "old-timers"; current members, also included. The correspondence deals with the work of Gjøa Foundation, founded in 1939, "for the preservation and upkeep of Roald Amundsen's Gjøa, famed for making the Northwest Passage 1903 - 1905." Includes a reprint of an article on the "Gjøa" by Erik Krag, which first appeared in the 'Pacific Marine Review', April 1949.

Ole and Peder G. Gunnulson papers, circa 1870-1933
Papers consisting of correspondence, diaries, creamery reports, tobacco pool reports, tax receipts, and assessor's statements (1891) for Town of Christiana, Dane County, Wisconsin. The correspondence deals with farm interests in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, and Arvada, Wyoming, and also with the construction of First East Koshkonong Lutheran Church of which Ole Gunnuldson was architect and builder. The Gunnelson homestead, for occupied by Gunnul Olson Vindeg in 1840, is now (1962) owned by Martin Gunnulson, great grandson of Gunnul and donor of these papers.

Bjug A. Harstad papers, 1898-1899
Letters and articles written (February 10th - August 16th, 1898) by Harstad, Lutheran clergyman to the Pacific Lutheran University Herald, a Norwegian newspaper in Parkland, Washington, of which he was editor for several years. These letters concern his trip from Tacoma, Washington, to the Yukon during the gold rush period. Harstad gives detailed reports of the route of travel and of the problems and hardships of the expedition, the purpose of which was to secure mining property for the benefit of Pacific Lutheran University, Parkland, of which he was founder and president. Two hand-drawn maps of the routes accompany the papers. Translated and donated by Oliver Harstad, a son of Bjug Harstad, 1995, typescript. Also, 75th anniversary edition, 1973, 30 p. Clara Jacobson papers, 1943
Childhood Memories (42 p. typescript) of reminiscences of childhood days spent in the Perry parsonage, western Dane County, Wisconsin, by a daughter of Abraham Jacobson, Lutheran parish pastor from 1868 to 1878. Written in informal style, Childhood Memories gives a glowing, detailed account of church, school, books, music, dress, entertainment, trips, playmates, guests, parsonage, garden and household and farm employees. There is special mention made of Olaus Jensen Breda, Ole Bull, Aanund B. Dahle, John N. Fjeld, Gulbrand Jensvold, Monona Academy, and the devastating tornado of 1878. Also includes a scrapbook of clippings of her writings from Decorah-Posten and Reform. Also, letters from H.H. Einung, 1928 - 1931 (Rjukan). Clara Jacobson was a teacher and author.
