Sigleif Engen article, 1962
"Knut Olson Eia," the story of the life in Norway of an emigrant said to have come to America in 1821 with Cleng Peerson. Engen attempts to get at the facts about an obscure pioneer and to correct erroneous statements that have been made about him.The article appeared (in Norwegian) in "Ætt og heim," 1962, page 66-67. -
Bert J. Enger letter, 1923
A letter to an employee by a Norwegian-American businessman while on a world cruise. Enger founded the Enger and Olson Furniture Company in Duluth and donated land for the Enger golf course and the Enger Tower. A park was also named in his honor. -
Ralph Enger papers, 1947-1949
Papers of the founder and editor of "The Pacific Coast Scandinavian", consisting of correspondence and a history of the Norwegian Club of San Francisco, 1898 - 1946. The history (1947, 88 p. + 17 plates) deals largely with the social life of the Club, including the entertainment of such guests as Roald Amundsen, whose ship, Gjøa, the Club bought and gave to the city. A sketch of Andrew Furuseth; a list of officers, 1906 - 1946; an account of the voyage of the ship Gjøa; and the consitution and by-laws are also includes. Photographs of founder members; past presidents; "old-timers"; current members, also included. The correspondence deals with the work of Gjøa Foundation, founded in 1939, "for the preservation and upkeep of Roald Amundsen's Gjøa, famed for making the Northwest Passage 1903 - 1905." Includes a reprint of an article on the "Gjøa" by Erik Krag, which first appeared in the 'Pacific Marine Review', April 1949.

Ingebrigt Ingebrigtsen Engseth papers, 1824-1898
Personal and financial documents of one of the pioneer settlers of the Valley Grove community, Rice County, Minnesota. Engeseth emigrated from Leikanger, Sogn og Fjordane fylke in 1855 to Northfield township, where his brothers Sjur (1823-1888) and Erik (1828-1904) and sister Kari (1816-1866) also settled. His first wife was Anna Iversdatter Grinde (1823-1862); his second wife was Durdei Larsdatter Hamre (1831-1898).; The documents were "found in a leather wallet kept by (son) Erick Engeseth (1866-1959) and For a Engeseth Johnson". -

Elmer Erickson autobiography, 1971
An account by a Norwegian-American farmer who lived in Shawano, County, Wisconsin. He writes about the pioneer lives of his parents and grandparents, his own education at St. Ansgar Seminary in Iowa, his experiences as a teacher, and finally his life on a farm, beginning in 1917, together with details about family and family events. His account goes up to 1945. His son Luther Erickson added a postscript which covers details up to his father's death in 1971. -
Emil A. Erickson papers, 1953
"Account of the lives and life-work of "the author's parents, "Based on the recollections of friends, relatives, and members of the family, the whole emphasis is on the parents, their early lives, the building of the farm, and the raising of the family." Forward.; Born at Vestnes, Romsdal, in 1875, Christopher worked as a sailor from ages 17 to 25. In 1900 he emigrated to Wisconsin, working in the woods and in the kilns of Ashland, Wis. There he met Anna Leidenberg, who was born in Minnesota 1882 to a Swedish father and Norwegian mother. In 1907 a farm near Grand Rapids, Minn., was purchased and the family moved there in 1912. Christopher died 1950. Genealogical data on the family on p. 19. -

Lenorah Erickson papers, circa 1960
Travelogue and itinerary of Lenorah’s experience as a Norwegian missionary in India, China, and Taiwan. Also included are letters and manuscript materials about life as a missionary. Lenorah was influential in helping establish the Taiwan Lutheran Church in 1952.
