O. B. Iverson articles, circa 1920
Transcripts of seven articles written by a Norwegian-born surveyor, immigration commissioner, and legislator of Stanwood, Washington, which were published in the "Stanwood News," (Oct. - Dec. 1920) concerning his work as immigration commissioner, his first trip from South Dakota to Washington to explore the land, and about logging camps, surveying, vegetation, soil, Indians, and settlers.

Endre Larsen Jaastad papers, 1923-1983
Letters to Margaret (Birkeland) Refsland and a manuscript on the church year, 20 p., written by an emigrant from Ullensvang, Hardanger, in 1869. He became a Lutheran minister serving a parish in Rushford, Minnesota, 1873-1920. Also, "History of the Rushford...Congregation and Autobiography of Rev. Endre L. Jaastad, 3/29/20," 49 typescript pages. -
Henry Jackson clippings, 1945-2002
Reprint of "Norseman for President," by Svein Gilje, "The Norseman," no. 6, 1971, and a Minneapolis "Star and Tribune" obituary, September 8, 1981.
Jackson was the son of Norwegian immigrant parents who became an influential senator from the state of Washington and was frequently mentioned as a possible presidential candidate. -

Rachel Jacobsen papers, 1900-1954
88-page unpublished manuscript, "Mae on Gull Island"; and a story for children, "I once Had a Wonderful Secret." by a Norwegian American living in Wheaton, Illinois. J. Rode Jacobsen, a brother-in-law, was a well-known Norwegian-American composer and teacher in Chicago. Also a photograph of a Christ's Church outing in Chicago from about 1900, which includes her father, aunt and uncle. -
Abraham Jacobson papers, 1848-1989
Articles, clippings, obituaries, memoirs, correspondence, pictures, and scrapbooks of a Norwegian-born clergyman and farmer. The scrapbooks contain clippings taken largely from "Decorah-Posten:" obituaries, biographic sketches of Dakota pioneers, and items concerning Norwegian pioneer associations, Lutheran church conventions, Det Norske Selskap, Norsk-danske presseforening i Amerika, and Jacobson's contacts with Abraham Lincoln, "Decorah-Posten," and "Nordlyset." There are items about Rasmus B. Anderson, L. W. Boe, Gjermund Hoyme, U. V. Koren, Bernt J. Muus, Knute Nelson, Oley Nelson, Halle Steensland, Peer Strømme, Hans G. Stub, and Oscar M. Torrison.
The articles consist of biographies of Winneshiek County, Iowa, pioneers: Jacob Aga, Ole Andreas Anderson, Gunder H. Blegeberg, Ove Christian Johnson Hallan, Thor Halvorson, Tollev Halvorson, Johan Hegg, Christopher T. Hoyme, Andrew O. Lommen, Ole T. Lommen, Lars Iverson Melaas, and Knudt Thompson. The correspondence and other articles concern Jacobson's mission to the Gaspé settlement in the 1860s. Jacobson was the first Lutheran clergyman to preach in Dakota Territory and the first Norwegian in the Decorah area.

Marit Rodvang biography, 1902
A copy of a clipping "En Pionerkvinde," a biographical note about Marit Rodvang, an emigrant from Vestre Slidre, Valdres, written by Abraham Jacobson and published in Decorah Posten, December 13, 1902. A translation is included. -
Adolph Jacobson memoir and poem, 1917-1943
Jacobson was born at Sandefjord and followed his family's seafaring tradition in 1870. He immigrated in 1892 to Racine, Wis., becoming a sailor on the Great Lakes. His memoirs were published in 18 installments in Skandinaven (Oct.. 6, 1931-Jan. 6, 1933) under the title, "Nogle erindringer fra seilskibenes dage." In addition to telling his life as a sailor, he provides much information about the Norwegian-American community in Racine. He also was a regular contributor of religious verse to Lutheraneren and Skandinaven. Clippings of the articles and some poems are included. -
Clara Jacobson papers, 1943
Childhood Memories (42 p. typescript) of reminiscences of childhood days spent in the Perry parsonage, western Dane County, Wisconsin, by a daughter of Abraham Jacobson, Lutheran parish pastor from 1868 to 1878. Written in informal style, Childhood Memories gives a glowing, detailed account of church, school, books, music, dress, entertainment, trips, playmates, guests, parsonage, garden and household and farm employees. There is special mention made of Olaus Jensen Breda, Ole Bull, Aanund B. Dahle, John N. Fjeld, Gulbrand Jensvold, Monona Academy, and the devastating tornado of 1878. Also includes a scrapbook of clippings of her writings from Decorah-Posten and Reform. Also, letters from H.H. Einung, 1928 - 1931 (Rjukan). Clara Jacobson was a teacher and author.
