- Description
- Copies of documents and letters, together with diaries of an immigrant who came to Chicago in 1880. Some items are translated by Karl Johan Berner Schultz (1981). The diaries reveal the introspective nature of a devout Quaker struggling with problems related to education, military service, and employment, first in Norway and later in the United States. The later diaries indicate that he found work in Marshalltown, Iowa.
