Throughout his life, Pete worked many jobs from farm labor, building roads, lumberyard work, working as a mechanic, to working for a jeweler and watchmaking. He retired in 1956 after working for the Minneapolis City Shops, where he took care of construction machines. Pete’s wife, Olga, was also of Norwegian descent, though she grew up in Minnesota. At home, they spoke Norwegian and they enjoyed attending church services that were held in Norwegian, as well as celebrating Norwegian holidays.
