Agnes Kjorlie Geelan biography, 1989
The January 1989 issue of the Binford (North Dakota) Guide, volume 21, January 1989, which tells the story of a Norwegian-American, beginning with her childhood and youth in Hatton, North Dakota, and her education at the Mayville Normal School. She came as a teacher to Enderlin, North Dakota, where she married Elric Geelan, a railroad trainman. She became involved in women's suffrage, the labor union, and local politics, which led to her election as mayor and later as senator in the North Dakota Legislature. She served as Commissioner of the State Workmen's Compensation Bureau, was a member of the North Dakota Commission on the Status of Women and of the North Dakota Constitutional Convention. She is also the author of a biography of Senator Bill Langer and of two novels, The Ministers' Daughters and Pine Cove Revisited. -
Clarence A. Clausen papers, circa 1924-circa 1975
Articles and a genealogical chart concerning Clausen himself and his ancestry in Drangedal, Telemark. Clausen, a professor of history, wrote, translated, and edited extensively for NAHA. -
Ragna Dahle biography, 1923
One of the Least, a 32-page biography of a Norwegian-American woman from Aitkin, Minnesota, who became a Lutheran missionary teacher at Manasoa, Madagascar. Astrid Awes, the author and Dahle's sister, used the missionary's diary as a partial basis for her account. Includes a portrait of Dahle and a photograph of her grave in Madagascar. -

Hans Anton Andersen family papers, undated
Hans A. Andersen was born in Larvik, Norway, on May 14, 1840. He emigrated in 1860 to La Crosse, Wisconsin, where he established a hardware business. In 1888 he returned to Norway, but emigrated again and established a hardware store in Minneapolis. He died in 1903. A son Arnt E. Andersen became a doctor in Minneapolis.

Thor M. Andersen biography, 1825-1979
The more than 55,0000 entries on hand written cards were edited and published on the Internet by the University of Oslo Library in cooperation with the Department of British and American Studies of the University. Entries by and /or about Norwegian emigrants to the U.S. and Canada from newspapers, periodicals, books and brochures, principally between 1825 and 1930.; Searches by author, title, personal name, place names, or any work. Over 400 individual titles (about 300 in Norwegian, 100 in English) were covered.
Information about, brochures, sample entries from the data base of references compiled by a Norwegian librarian from 1929 until his death in 1979. -
Gilbert Helgeson Baaken papers, circa 1891-1912
Born in Goodhue county to parents who emigrated from Valdres, Bakken was one of the earliest students at St. Olaf's School. Attended Augsburg Seminary, was ordained 1891. Served at Soldier, Iowa 1900-12; Mt. Morris, Wis. During the years these three notebooks were kept. -
Emma Quie Bonhus manuscripts, 1910-1970
1. "Treklöverblade: fortælling" was published in Decorah Posten (Ved Arnen), April 22-June 3, 1943. It is represented in a manuscript transcription (200 p.) and in English translation, "Three leaf clover," by Marie Voxland. Two typescript versions, single-space (77 p.) and double-space (162). A preface by Voxland gives background information, identifying possible sources for the characters in the families of Dr. Just Christian Grönvold and Halvor H. Quie, the church (Holden, Kenyon) and the college and academy (St. Olaf's School and College). A 6 page manuscript "Notes on the Gronvold ‘farm' and members of the family" by Voxland "based on notes from Harriet Voxland" gives additional information. A photocopy of the Ved Arnen publication is also included.; 2. "Den Lille Kapellan" (Familiens Magasin, Dec. 1925, pp.6-11). "Det skjer noe i det som skjer" (Juli Vesterheimen, 1947? Pp. 38-43). B.E. Bothun autobiography, 1925
Presents "the saga of two Fillmore county (Minn.) lads": the author (then living at Eureka,Mont.) and Hans I. Olston (then of Lake Preston, S.D.) Olston, son of Iver Olson, emigrated with his family from Supellen, Balestrand, 1861; they were pioneer farmers near Lake Preston from 1884. Hans was a businessman there from 1886, a banker from 1890.
