Andrew Tollefson correspondence, 1881-1906
Correspondence of a Norwegian-born teacher and sheep rancher written mostly from Montana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, dealing with health, rural schools, politics, and economic conditions on farm and ranch. There are letters concerning St. Olaf College, Augsburg College, Concordia College, Augustana Academy, and Scandinavia Academy. Tollefson was a student at St. Olaf College (1890-1893). Includes letters from Sam Solberg, Edwin Solberg, Inga Halverson, Lottie Halverson, O. Sandness, L.H. Dalen, Henry Thorseson, John Edward Beum. -
Andrew Wright papers, 1857-1921
Legal papers, correspondence, sermon. Includes:- Papers of a pastor born Namdalen, immigrated 1860. He worked as a tailor and farmer 1860-70, then as pastor at Coon Prairie (1870-71); Rushford, Minn. (1871-1901); Highland, Minn. (1877-1910). Was president of the Norwegian Augustana Synod(1885-88), editor of "Luthersk Kirketidende" (1873-91) and Børnebudet" (1878-89).
- Active in the temperance movement, and published many articles in "Reform" and other journals. Many of his writings (some identified by place and date published, others not) as well as other clippings he found of interest are in the scrapbook.
- There are typed transcriptions of his series of articles published in "Luthersk Kirketidende" in 1886 about the spiritual awakening in Namsos during his youth, "Da vakkelsen kom til os" (73 p.); and a brief autobiography published in "Reform".
- In addition there are legal documents (both Norwegian and American), pamphlets Wright published, and some letters of his widow.

Anna and Anders Petterson letters, 1884-1889
"Ephraim Is My Home Now," letters written to the parents of a young minister and his wife who had been sent by the Moravian Church in Germany at the request of the Provincial Elders Conference, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as "suitable" for work among the the Scandinavian members of the Moravian Church in Door County, Wisconsin. Anna was Danish and Anders was Swedish. The letters, translated and edited by a granddaughter, Lucille Petterson, were published in the Wisconsin Magazine of History, volume 69, number 3 through volume 70, number 2, 1986-1987. -
Anna Bygland autobiography, circa 1891
Story of her family's move in 1890 from Saude, Iowa to Ponca reservation land west of Niobrara, Nebraska. The parents had emigrated from Telemark, lived in Saude 15 years.

Anna Christine Lovise (Prytz) Tangjerd memorabilia, 1825-1943
Verses written by family members for special occasions in the life of her family. A five-page manuscript verse inscribed to her, 1st Dec 1943, is the only American production. The others (except for one in manuscript) are nicely printed, some in Bergen or Oslo, and often meant to be sung to familiar tunes. There are verses on the silver wedding celebration (April 24, 1902) and the golden wedding celebration of Pastor and Mrs. A. F. W. J. Prytz; their 30th birthdays; and the brudeparret Loftfield, 21de juni 1927. Mrs. Tangjerd was born in Mo i Rana, but after her father's early death was brought up by her maternal aunt (Mrs. Prytz) and husband, and took their name. She emigrated when 19 and married Pastor Peder Tangjerd in 1890. File also includes business card of Paul G. Peterson (donor of this collection).
Also includes: 100+ Letters (1885-1936)between Anna Christina Lovisa Isaacson Prytz Tangjerd and Milda Prytz; and several letters between brothers Peder & Lauritz Tangjerd. Collection includes a CD with scans of each letter, plus additional family images and manuscripts, newspaper clippings, and compiled family histories. Additionally, several artifacts: a piece of silk from the wedding dress of Mrs. Prytz, sister of Ole Tobias Olsen (c. 1825); and two silk scarves given as baptisms gifts. -
Anna Eriksen letters, 1892-1895
Copies of 8 letters written from Faribault, Minnesota, to the Nels Jensen family of Hudson, Wisconsin, by an acquaintance and fellow immigrant from Mo i Rana. Anna worked for an Episcopal "prestefamilie," earning two dollars a week, and later for a school. Her letters tell of declining health, possibly tuberculosis. A letter from a Bertha Hauge informs the Jensens of Anna's death. Eriksen comments on church life and interdenominational strife and on her own preference for the "Haugianers." America differs greatly from Norway, she writes, and is difficult until one gets used to things. Nonetheless, she did not want to live in Norway again. -
