Norris Olson obituary collection, 1896-1963
Approximately 100 manuscript obituaries and a few memorial leaflets, evidently submitted to a Menomonie, Wisconsin, newspaper, but in Dr. Norris Olson's file, which were forwarded to NAHA after his death in Illinois in 1963. The obituaries precede 1951, and most, but not all, bear Norwegian names. -
Norrøna Leikarring (Minneapolis) papers, 1925-1975
Materials about a Minneapolis folk dance group (25 charter members) founded by Ellen Hammer in 1925 to perform at the Norse-American Centennial. Hilda Kringstad wrote in Minnesota Posten (May 16th, 1975) "Einar Duvick was instructor and received the St. Olaf medal for his services....it has travelled through the Midwest and Canada giving performances in theatres, colleges and high schools and churches. During the early years the members put on plays in Norwegian twice a year, fall and spring, at the old Norway Hall. With the exception of a few years...Leikarring has been an annual performer for the Valdres Samband."

Norse American Centennial Daughters of St. Paul papers, 1922-1994
Articles, brochures, clippings, correspondence, and reports of a Norwegian-American society organized in 1925 following the Norse American Centennial celebration in Minneapolis of that year. It has supported the Minnesota Leif Erikson Monument Association, entertained visiting royalty from Norway, and promoted library, music, museum, and welfare projects.

Norse Art League (Chicago) catalog, 1931
An 8-page catalog of the "First Semi-annual Art Exhibit, March 1-15, 1931." Includes lists of the board of directors, art exhibit committee, jury, prizes, artists, and the titles of the 80 works exhibited. The Norse Art League was "organized two months ago by Norse Artists and a few friends for the purpose of encouraging art among the Norsemen." Minutes of a Silvana, Washington, society organized to provide for its members a library and an opportunity to discuss current topics, such as women's suffrage, temperance, taxes, presidential elections, fire insurance, the new literature, farming vs. logging, and causes of economic depressions. A copy of the constitution, lists of members, library records, and financial accounts are also included. -
Norsk Leseforening reports, 1898-1982
Records of a women's reading club in Chicago, founded in 1898 to foster continued interest in the literature of Scandinavia and particularly of Norway. At bi-weekly meetings, the members reviewed and read aloud parts of books which were being discussed. In addition, the club was often engaged in charitable enterprises with financial gifts to the Norwegian homes for the aged in the area and to the Chicago Day Nursery. Includes correspondence, letters to and from members, typically either Christmas letters or acknowledgements of donations.
