Fifty Years on Seven Seas: A Life On Board “The Ship”. Son of Sandefjord, Master Mariner, My Father Ivar Carlsen (2015, 60 page transcription, oral history conducted and edited by son, Carl Carlsen). Note from Carl Carlsen: “My father was born in Sandefjord in 1919 and was in the Norwegian merchant marine before and during WW2. ...in his narrative my father tells how he sought employment on American merchant marine vessels during WW2 and after [while based in the Philippines] in order to facilitate his acquiring American citizenship, which he did mid-century. Brooklyn figures into his narrative asa place to be while not at sea during the War and as a place to retain histies to Norway as a member of the War Sailors club after his retirement from decades of sailing with Gulf Oil. -

Engel Revne Rood family history, 1987
A compilation of photographs, pedigree charts, and family correspondences (1886-1934). Includes short biography of Engel Revne Rood (1865-1943), a native of Baldersheim, Norway, who left home at age 15. After four years of working on a freighter he saved enough money and settled in Leland, Illinois. Here he met and later married Ella Svenson in 1892. The couple moved to Oklahoma and later Bode, Iowa. Eleven children were born to them. -

A documented paper, "Importance of Genealogy," describing the process of searching for family history, by Selma S. Casberg, a retired teacher of history who has done considerable research in the history of her own family. Includes 5 photo albums to accompany the 4 family histories she published which are in the library collection.

Della Kittleson Dokken Catuna papers, 1887-1989
Research material and working copies for Della Catuna's translation of "Colonel Heg and His Boys" by Waldemar Ager. Her translation of the Ager book was used, together with a translation by Clarence A. Clausen, for "Colonel Heg and His Boys," which NAHA published in 2000. Other family papers are also included.
Includes:- Copy of "The Battle of Stone's River," from the official report by Col. W. P. Carlin in "The War of the Rebellion" (1887, 1977).
- Volume of a copy of Catuna's manuscript "prepared in 1989 from a carbon copy… by Robert Kittelson for interim family use. Various 'additions' and 'corrections' by Robert Kittelson following research and additional information by Aunt Della."

Seth D. Charney biography, 1966
Biographical sketch of Minnesota-born Vilhelm Magnus (1871-1929) and his discoveries in the field of medicine.
Charney was a student at Yale University School of Medicine. Vilhelm's father, Morten Henrik Magnus (1833-1905 )emigrated 1868 and was a pastor at Arendal, Minnesota 1869-75. He returned to Europe and taught at the Hamro Latin School 1883-1903.Vilh. received a medical degree from the Univ. of Christiania and practiced medicine in Christiania. He died 1929. According to Charney he published in 1901 a classic paper on the hormonal substance progesterone. -

Christenson translated two books on Hallvard Graatopp (1400-1438?) which are in the library collection: Stian Henneseid, Hallvard Graatopp and the bonde revolt of 1438 (DK495.H35K5713), Birger Kireby, Hallvard Graatoppfrom the Lindheim skipreide (DL495.H35K5713).
