Sven Hanson Njaa papers, 1904-1964
Biographical article, "Fra Jæren til præriens misjonsmark," published in "Jul i Rogaland," 1964. Reverend Njaa emigrated from Rogaland in 1892 and was ordained a Lutheran pastor in 1899. The article deals chiefly with his early experiences and his stay in Canada, after which he served a Northwood, North Dakota, parish for fifty years. Several photographs from Norway, Canada, and North Dakota are included. Also in the collection, found on the folio shelf, are a scrapbook, "Minder fra Svundne Dager," together with three sets of pictures from North Dakota, Canada, and China.

Rosanna Gutterud Johnsrud papers, 1927-1975
Born to Thorvald and Mina Thune Gutterud in Fairdale, North Dakota, Rosanna Gutterud married Emore Johnsrud, an accordionist, at Grafton, North Dakota, in 1937. They performed music together at many functions. He died in 1995. She collaborated with Bertha Buan and Marcus Tellevik on "Tre-Kløver-Hjørnet" in 1947. She also wrote a three-act play entitled "'Restauratjonen,' The Norwegian Mayflower," for the Norwegian-American Sesquicentennial celebration in 1975.

Jennie B. Hartmann papers, 1907-1993
Memoirs, letters, and clippings concerning the Norwegian community in the Northwest United States. Born in 1907 in Ålesund, Norway, she was active in community organizations in Seattle, Washington until her death in 1993. Earlier in her life she worked as a telegraph operator for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company and then for the U.S. Air Force in Alaska.

Conrad J. Hansen papers, 1919-1949
Choosing a Life-Work, an account of how the author became interested in the YMCA, an organization he served from 1919 to 1949, after having served as a member of the 77th Division of the A.E.F. during World War I. He is the son of the well-known editor of the "Minneapolis Tidende," Carl G. O. Hansen. -
Arthur F. Giere papers, 1928-1979
A Few Lutheran Church Cases; Selected by Arthur F. Giere, a 95-page pamphlet. Clippings, a poem, and an obituary, "Vinland," December 18, 1980. Giere was a lawyer in Galesburg, Wisconsin, who contributed short pieces to Norwegian-American newspapers and periodicals. -
Arne Alfarnes papers, 1976
"De harde aar i Vesten; Arne Alfarnes beretter fra sin tid i U.S.A" (47 pages), the recollections of an emigrant who came to the United States in 1909. After a few years of wandering in the West, he returned to his home in Norway. The material was originally published in 12 numbers of Andalsnes Avis, July 21-August 31, 1976. Clippings of the original articles are included.

Nels Tobias Dahl (Oksendahl) autobiography, 1925-1939
An account covering ancestry and childhood in Vest-Agder, Norway, emigration to Wisconsin in 1867, and subsequent events in the life of a farmer and business man who lived in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota. Appended notes are dated March 30, 1939. The reminiscences were recorded by Valborg Dahl, a daughter.
