Orger Anderson Heen autobiography, 1997
Born Dec. 1905 at Hen, Isfjorden, Rosdalen, Heen emigrated in 1929. After working at various jobs in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Maryland, he began working for IBM at Endicott, N.Y. He married and had four children. After death of his wife in 1987, Heen believed his children turned against him, dissipated his wealth, tried to kill him, and refused to accept his second wife. -
Orin M. Loftus book, 1984
Pioneers in the Norwegian Settlement, a photocopied and copyrighted compilation of information about the families of immigrants who came to Albany, Wisconsin, beginning in 1849. According to the compiler the work is intended as "a layman's history of an entire settlement" which lists members of various family groups through four generations.

Life Story by Orlean Nelson Rue (handwritten, 42 pages). Includes three sections: My Heritage, My Education, and My Present and Future Self. Note from donor, Oyvind T. Gulliksen: “Orlean Rue grew up on his parents’ farm in South Dakota and went to Concordia College [Moorhead, Minn.]. I assume he wrote his lifestory while a student at Concordia, as some sort of student assignment.” -

Orvillel Felland manuscript, 1979
"True account of the adventures of two sons of Norwegian immigrants. The story unfolds in the year 1928 in the town of Harmon, Minnesota, then moves on to the wilds of northern Alberta on the Peace River.

Oscar A. Tingelstad papers, 1899-1953
Correspondence, records, articles, reports, and account books of a Lutheran clergyman, educator, and author. Dr. Tingelstad was professor of psychology and education and registrar (1909-1928) and professor of philosophy and Bible (1944-1953) at Luther College, and president of Pacific Lutheran College (1928-1943).
Personal as well as professional correspondence runs throughout the collection and provides information on family affairs and on educational and professional careers of friends and colleagues. He defended the classical course of study in the colleges he served and in the main took a conservative stance on religious doctrine. Topics discussed are theory of evolution, liberal theology, rationalism in the church, curriculum development, church mergers, student recruitment, building programs and problems related to financing private colleges. In brief, his correspondence treats issues and problems prominent in college and church affairs during the first half of the twentieth century.
Manuscripts by Tingelstad: "The Historic Position of Lutheranism" (1927), "Registration Procedure and Preparation of Class Lists" (1927), "Academic Freedom and Tenure" (1939), "Brought up a Lutheran-But" (ca. 1945), "Thy Word is Truth" (1948), and "How Do Our Colleges Measure up to Present Day Educational Standards?" (1948). Meticulously kept, the account books contain detailed records of all correspondence and all personal financial transactions for the years indicated. Oscar Gunderson papers, 1934-1939
The manuscripts and typescripts of 39 poems in Norwegian two collections of short stories, "Fra Gutteaarene" and "Brevities" a dramatic sketch "Alcestis " and two stories with religious themes, "Expiation" and "Vigilius, Leaves from the Journal of a Roman," a note book, and three diaries. Gunderson, a Chicago accountant, wrote two books entitled "Stemnings-billeder" (1891), a collection of poems, and "Ralph Waldo Emerson, En Fremstilling" (1910) -
Oscar I. Hertsgaard papers, 1909-1975
Papers of a Minneapolis businessman who was involved in a wide range of church, civic and Norwegian-American activities. A graduate of St. Olaf College in 1908, he became a director of music at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, 1909-1913, after which he embarked on a long career as a representative for the Mutual Trust Insurance Company. He served many terms on the boards of Fairview Hospital and of St. Olaf College and held executive positions in a great many organizations. In 1939 he organized a Folk Festival, one of the events in honor of the visit of Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Martha of Norway. Because of his long association with Hallinglaget and his frequent visits to Norway, he was popularly known as "Hallingkongen." He was President of Bygdelagenes Faellesraadet for twelve years, in which connection he promoted the publication of "A Folk Epic, The Bygdelag in America," 1975. He received the St. Olav Medal in 1940 and the Knight's Cross, First Class, of the Royal Order of St. Olav, in 1947, from King Haakon of Norway.
