Hans O. Blegen papers, 1903-1914
Born in Faaberg, Blegen emigrated in 1873 to Olmstead County, Minnesota. In 1885 he moved to Benson County, North Dakota where he farmed. Elected to North Dakota House of Representatives in 1906. For brief biography and photograph, see P0271, Norwegian-Americans in politics.
Includes: Copy of Governor L. B. Hanna's appointment of Blegen as member of the committee to present a bust of Abraham Lincoln from North Dakota to Norway (22 April 1914) and a program from the Unveiling and Presentation of the bust in Frogner Park, Kristiania, 4 July 1914; Photographic negative of "three of the many 'hired men' whom Blegen encouraged to strike out for themselves and not continue to work for others. They homesteaded in McKenzie County, North Dakota about 1903." The men are Peter Froholm from Innvik, Nordfjord; Clarence Rude from Stewartville, Minnesota; and Jon (Joe) Kirkeide from Stryn, Nordfjord. Added clipping from Curtis Eriksmoen (2006) "N.D. Pacific Coast Norwegian Singers Association papers, 1903-1995

Ole Godfred Landsverk papers, 1921-1985
Papers of the owner of the Landsverk Electrometer Company, Glendale, California. Landsverk was an enthusiastic promoter of the Kensington Runestone and other runic inscriptions, with emphasis on cryptographic messages to be found in them. He also was research director for the Leif Erikson Association in Los Angeles, and a leader in the campaign for a Congressional Proclamation of 9 October as Leif Erikson Day. -
Syttende Mai records, circa 1933-circa 1982
Correspondence and clippings relating to American Syttende Mai festivals, including four pamphlets from Brooklyn, New York (1967-1982). Of interest is the material concerning the Moscow, Iowa county, Wisconsin (May, 1933), festival, which commemorated the 1873 celebration when Ole Bull and Rasmus B. Anderson appeared on the program together with Syver Holland, who sang Heimtraa, a folk ballad.
