A Century of Giants in the Earth

Ole E. Rølvaag was a Norwegian-American writer and professor best known for his novel Giants in the Earth, which portrays the lives of immigrant settlers on the South Dakota prairie. Drawing deeply from his own experiences as an immigrant, Rølvaag captures both the hope and hardship of frontier life, focusing on the emotional and psychological challenges of adapting to a vast and unfamiliar landscape. We invite you to join us in 2027 as we look back on Rølvaag’s legacy 100 years after the publication of Giants in the Earth.
