Gunder Pedersen Heien letters, 1881-1909
Photocopies of letters to relatives in Norway (May 16, 1881-December 10, 1884) mainly from Montevideo, Minnesota; letter to childhood friend A.G. Nordhagen, February 4, 1909. Heien emigrated from Rena, Aamot kommune, Hedmark fylke. Also includes pedigree charts, Saterback-Heien, and associated correspondence, 1979-1996. -
Anders Braatelien Pedersen papers, circa 1860-1900
Pedersen emigrated from Sigdal in 1870, settling first in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1879 he moved to a site on the Great Northern Railroad in western Minnesota, becoming one of the first business men (and first post master) in the new village of Rothsay. He was county commissioner 1898-1910. He maintained a keen interest in his native country, and was one of the founders of the Sigdalslaget. In 1900 he published a novel, Mor Hansen (Rothsay, Minn.; Chicago, J. Anderson), 309 p. a copy is in the library collection: PT9150.P32M6 1900 NAI Vault: an English translation by Clara Serkland (wife of Grandson Alvin) is included here.

Ole R. Pedersen autobiography, 1935-1976
"Autobiography of O. R. Pedersen," translated by his daughter, Mae Peterson, 1974. Pedersen enlivens his account with stories of his childhood and youth in Valders, Norway, and of his emigrant journey to Brown County, Wisconsin, 1873. His narrative continues with stories of family, church, and pioneer life in Brown County, where he spent the rest of his life. -
